WELCOME TO FALL IN
NORTH IDAHO!

Dear Members,

By the time you read this, fall will have officially arrived. I find it to be a bittersweet time of the year. The memories of time by the lake, boating, swimming, and warm summer mornings and evenings is behind us, but the splendor of autumn colors and crisp, clear days is upon us. It’s a time to get out the warm clothing and the afghans, for the Beef Bourguignon recipe to be pulled from the box, and for the knitting project, abandoned in July, to come out of the closet. And, as I noted at Wednesday’s first CAL meeting of the season, a time to catch up with friends not seen over the summer months. What a happy chatter it was!

I hope you are as pleased as I with the new Board and it’s fresh, new energy and good humor (the Wednesday panties!!!). I look forward to working with each and every member. Julia Kern, the new Social Chair, announced what has become a new autumn tradition for me, the Wine, Stein & Dine event to be held at Trinity on October 23rd. This is a fun evening with great food and wine and a chance to meet the significant others in our CAL members' lives. Seating is limited, so don’t delay in signing up for a chance to make this your new tradition.

I would also encourage you to sign-up for one of the tours of the museum to view the new special exhibit, WunderKammer. If you attended Heather Upton’s last exhibit tour, you know you will be in for a treat.

The excellent presentations by the Music Conservatory of Sandpoint and the Kaleidoscope program were a wonderful reminder of why CAL exists. Without our generous support, some of these local programs would not be able to offer the programs that they do. If you have any inclination to teach art or make a connection with Sandpoint school children, give Kaleidoscope a try. It’s fun and fulfilling!

This all brings me to what I hope is a fall tradition, getting back into the swing of Bizarre Bazaar. We had a blockbuster summer and want to continue the trend. This is the time of year when we become more settled; the company is gone, and it’s easier to make a schedule. Join your friends, or make new ones, and sign up for several shifts each month. BB is a cozy, warm place during the dark of winter. Remember, it is our store and your efforts that make those grants and scholarships a reality. Happy fall!
