BIZARRE BAZAAR
NEWS

Dear Volunteers,

Happy Easter! Easter is usually a true sign of spring, but it looks like we’ve been duped. It’s still very cool, stormy, windy and cloudy. Don’t know about you, but I am ready for a little more warmth!

Even though the weather is cool, Bizarre Bazaar is HOT with pretty spring colors, lighter fabrics and some shorter sleeves tops. It STILL is not time for crops, shorts, sundresses and the like, though I do see a few full summer things making their way out to the floor along with deep winter sweaters. There are lists posted with information to help you decide what needs to go out and what stays in the back.

And, speaking of the back, we got an incredible donation on Monday – four pickup trucks full of the leftovers from an estate sale. OMG! So much merchandise and, fortunately for that day, quite a few incredible volunteers who plowed through the 3’ high piles of clothes and a gazillion tubs and boxes. The lode of treasures showed up at 10:30 a.m. and all was tamed, corralled and stowed by 1:00 p.m. Our heartfelt thanks go out to Beth Drain, Carol Visger, Mary Sturgis, Marnie Easley, Jan Harrison, Cathy Horton, Brooke Moore, Norma Bartenhagen and Jolene Wallace. Amazing women!

 ** Notes **

  • A few important changes arose from our Team Leader/Department Head meeting two weeks ago. Most importantly, we have increased the amount of change in the change bag, hoping to make your day go a little smoother. Team Leaders are back to being totally in charge of the end-of-day envelope, the change bag and the till bag. If you need change, please have your team leader buy it for you.

  • When you redeem a gift card in full, please put in the end-of day envelope.

  • It was brought up that some items are going out on the floor either dirty or unpriced. We are upscale, so let’s show it by selling CLEAN merchandise.

We are also receiving more and more vintage and valuable items. Please, take the time to do a little research so we can price items accurately and fairly. We have recently been gifted with some items valued over $1,000. With respect for our donors, we need to do our due diligence in pricing. With this in mind, we are looking for some lover of art and vintage items who might be interested in helping us and our auction lady, Tonya Sherman, research and perhaps do some on-line selling. Please contact Bobbie Franklin, Donna Hutter or me if you are interested.

The back room is FULL. We are low on storage space, tubs and hangers. Please, dear members, keep your out-of-season clothing, décor and other items at home. We welcome all your spring/summer items!

Noteworthy upcoming events:

Dixie’s Garden Center will open May 2nd. She and Judy Dabrowski are looking for assistance setting up the incredible display on Sunday, May 1st. Please contact Dixie (208-265-8537) or Judy (208-290-5314) if you would like to help.

May 20-21 is Lost in the 50’s! We plan on celebrating along with the rest of Sandpoint. Volunteer, wear your best 50’s outfit and have fun!

And, Volunteers, it goes without saying, we need you. We need sorters, ironers, pricers and people for just about everything else. Sign up, come in and have some fun with us. We would love to see your cheerful faces.
