Dear Volunteers,

Another stellar month, ladies and Robert – topping out at an incredible $23,391.57! Nice work from those who found time to come in and help at Bizarre Bazaar. You should be very pleased with yourselves – Diane and I are so very proud of you.

The reason we have been so successful is because we have been receiving great donations (some solicited and picked up by our own members), we have had volunteers respond to the “Help” calls and we have had a lot of customers. To keep this juggernaut moving, we must continue to provide the very best to our customers in merchandise and attitude and we can do that when you come and help.

If this sounds like a call for you to sign up, indeed it is! Many of our September shifts are in dire need of bodies. You don’t need to wait until a team leader sends out a “Help”. It is easy to access the on-line sign up and add your name.

September, October & November calendars are available online now.

You can also add your name to the paper calendars in the shop or call a team leader you would like to work with and have her do it. Come in! We Want (and Need) you!

A special shout-out to Robert Qualls. With the exotic, the mundane, the things we pass on, he manages to spin gold and bring in an incredible amount from auction. Be thoughtful of that grungy old “thing” you put in pass-ons. It might be worth something at auction even though we can’t sell it at the shop. (Robert is also on the lookout for more shoe boxes and mystery novels.)

Garage sale season is almost over (though with this lovely almost-fall weather, there may be a few more). To keep donations coming in, we encourage our members to clean out closets and cupboards and bring in those things that no longer bring you joy. Remember though that we ask you to leave unseasonal items such as summer clothes, garden items and summer décor items at home as we do not have space to store them. Fall and winter only, please!

What we are putting out now at BB:

  • Transitional household items as we move from outdoors inside.
  • Medium weight clothes such as long sleeve blouses, L/S Tee’s, light weight jackets, sweaters, slacks and jeans. Look for the yummy rich fall colors and things that can be layered with a sweater or jacket.
  • Shoes should be appropriate for the season. (There are bins under the incoming clothing racks with priced fall shoes.)

What we are putting away:

  • Anything summer…. patio dishes, BBQ or garden items.
  • Summer clothes such as crops, shorts, sundresses, sandals, linen and any other light, bright, floaty items you would wear on a hot day.

In the back room, please hang summer blouses (long and short sleeved), long sleeve Tee’s, skirts, pants, dresses and jackets. Please fold and place in appropriate tubs - crops, shorts, tanks and short sleeve tees. And remember, as you hang items to either button, snap or zip the garment so it does not fall off the hanger.

And please do not just hang or fold. Inspect the items, looking for stains, tears, snags or anything that might make the item unsaleable. Also make sure the garments going out on the floor are pressed or steamed. No wrinkles, please!

Coming soon:
The semi-annual Team Leader meeting will be scheduled for early October, date to be announced. We look forward to seeing all Team Leaders, Department Chairs and anyone interested in being a Team Leader.

Something big to remember:
We will be closed all day Wednesday, September 18th in celebration of our grand 40th Anniversary Celebration at the Panida Theater. Now there isn’t an excuse not to come and enjoy the festivities. The Anniversary Team has been hard at work to conjure up a wonderful afternoon for you. We look forward to seeing you there!

You volunteers are an incredible group of dedicated and talented ladies. Diane and I thank you for all you do to make Bizarre Bazaar such a wonderful little shop.

In appreciation for all you do!

Diane and Cherie
