Dear friends,

It’s Saturday morning as I write this and I think I’m going to spend much of the weekend mucking out my house. For some reason the last two weeks have been incredibly busy, and my usually neat home looks like pigs ran through and left their footprints. I’m actually looking forward to it, which should tell you something about conditions here. I have gotten my garden ready for its long winter nap. I just have to wash the mower and roll up the hammock and we are as ready as possible for whatever comes. Now, if I could just figure out how to keep a newly arrived freeloading squirrel off my bird feeders….

Last night was the 2nd annual CAL Wine Fest at Trinity. The food was so good that I would love to see it on the regular menu. Lin Otey and her band of merry-makers did a superb job. It is such a fun, but classy event. All the ladies looked beautiful. We all complimented one another on the Bizarre Bazaar purchases in which we were decked out. You ladies are married to some very lovely men, I must say, and they were there in force last night. I was reminded of how much I appreciate the generosity of your husbands. As you know I was widowed over 3 years ago and, while I handle most things on my own (I replaced a flapper valve in the toilet this week!), it is so comforting to be able to tap into your husband’s expertise when needed. Dave Eacret counseled me while negotiating our lease, Foster Cline was willing to help with some advertising/photo questions, Richard Hutter who gave me a crash course on endowment funds, and Tom Gibson who lent me his time financial experience regarding ICF. These are just the men who have helped me personally for the benefit of CAL from behind the scenes that you may not know about. There are so many more who volunteer all the time to help us keep BizBaz actually running each month. More on them in the future. Hopefully we will see lots of them at our After Hours Party at Bizarre Bazaar on November 13.

Please remember that at the November meeting we will have the Christmas Giving Tree to provide a Christmas package for our most vulnerable seniors. If you can’t be at the meeting, but wish to contribute, have a friend pick out a senior for you. There will be about 55 names there. Those seniors are so appreciative of us remembering them.

Enjoy the end of Fall and watch out for goblins.

Yours,

Sherry
