BIZARRE BAZAAR
May News

Dear Volunteers,

Yes, it is finally Spring! Gorgeous sunny days interspersed with drizzly ones. Flowers blooming, trees greening, pollen starting to waft. And the long hard winter is over at last.

So you all knows what that means – yard sales! And that means more and more donations which translates into needing lots of volunteers at Bizarre Bazaar. Mondays and Tuesdays are particularly critical as this seems to be when the largesse of the community appears on our doorstep. Sorters, even though you may be overwhelmed by the mountains of stuff, please take your time. We don’t want to miss any of the great stuff, but we don’t need to keep the unsalable things (like the not-quite vintage blouse with underarm stains or the tee with a ripped side seam). It’s is important that everything be clean and the clothing pressed when it is put on the store's floor.

It is also vitally important that every item going on the floor have a price tag! Several items, especially household goods, decorative items and pictures are missing that all important price tag. We applaud your great intentions about getting those treasures out, but please take a minute to get prices on them. We thank you, our customers thank you and especially our cashiers thank you!

With the increase of donations, there will also be an increase of items we pass on. Our ladies (and husbands) have been doing a great job moving the excess things out the back door, but the team could use a couple of extra players. If you are interested, please contact Marilyn Haddad (208-255-2331).

Spring also means more out of town traffic. We implore you lovely, gracious ladies to come in and greet these folks who help support our mission statement of giving back to the community.

In the next couple of weeks, you will be seeing some of the Pedro clothing hitting the floor. These items are fairly pricey and brand new. We will be leaving the original price tags on so our customers can see what a fabulous deal they are getting. Please do not change the prices we put on them. As Tracey Gibson shared with the membership at the March meeting, we are not a junk store but rather an Upscale Resale shop.

Those of you who do come in to help have likely noticed how full the stock room is. Yikes! So many out of season donations, so little space. We ask that members help us out by not bringing in Fall/Winter items, especially coats and sweaters. We just do not have room for them. We appreciate your understanding and will let you know when we can accommodate your generous donations.

One last request - even though I do appreciate the thoughtfulness of those trying to help in the stock room by putting clothing away, I am finding some things in rather odd places. If you would like to help, please do not just stuff into an empty space, but either read the signs or look for similar items. Or ask your team lead for guidance. Many thanks.

A new enhancement to the website is a "Volunteer Information" selection on the menu bar. It includes the Team Leader calendar (for every shift) and links to navigate to May and June sign-up calendars. You must log-in to the website with your user id and password to access this information. If you have any questions regarding your user and password, contact Robbie Gleason for assistance.

Diane and I never tire of thanking those who volunteer for the time they share with Bizarre Bazaar and, in doing so, helping the wonderful community we live in.

In appreciation for all you do,
Diane and Cherie
