BIZARRE BAZAAR FALL NEWS

Dear Volunteers,

Another fabulous month is in the making as we continue to break sales records. Thank you Bonner Community for the donations and thank you, volunteers, for all your hard work. It’s truly a symbiotic relationship - donations, sales, grants and scholarships.

We had an uplifting meeting this month with interesting information from board members and some great speakers. It goes without saying though, that my favorite part was announcing the winners of the “Name That Girl or Guy” contest. You are certainly an imaginative, creative group and we had so much fun reading the entries. It was a hard choice, but the board did their bit with the blind voting. For the three Guys, the winning names were Henry, Arnold and Sherman. The Girl’s ended up with Lady Di, Sassy Sally, Lola, Audrey, Bindy, Miss Irene and last, but certainly not least were the dynamic duo of Joyce and Cindy! Congratulations to all the winners and we hope you enjoy your fame and Hallmark gift cards.

And the donations keep on a’coming. Lots of wonderful things, but just a reminder - only fall and wintery things go out on the floor and spring and summery things stay in the back room. FYI linen, crops, breezy t’s and similar items count as spring/summer! Leave them in the back!

OK, we are going to beat that poor old dead horse yet one more time….pricing. Please take time to know your labels! The prices are getting goofy again, with cheaper items priced off the scale and quality items going for next to nothing. There are a multitude of resources to help you in pricing, so please avail yourselves of them. Lack of consistency confuses both our customers and our colleagues. Don’t forget, if you have any questions about a price, ask your team leader for advice.

Upcoming dates to remember:

Sunday, November 6th, 9:30 a.m. - The BIG Christmas decorating party at Bizarre Bazaar. Bring a dish for the potluck and plan on having a lot of fun transforming BB into a magical holiday wonderland!

Friday, November 18th, 4:00 p.m. - Annual After Hours party at Bizarre Bazaar. In celebration of all that you volunteers contribute, the board would like to thank everyone by inviting you to a lovely private Christmas gala for you, your family and friends. The shop will be open for you to browse while enjoying tasty tidbits and a glass or two of wine. Please join us for a lovely and wonderful evening.

And speaking of Christmas and winter, Judy Dabrowski and Rose Chaney have kindly requested that you lovely ladies of CAL (and Robert) each make and contribute at least one snowflake for their seasonal decorating extravaganza. The only criteria are that YOU make it (or them), they have 6 sides and that you pour all your fantastical creativity into it (or them). No limit, make as many as your little heart desires. They can be as simple as white folded paper cut with scissors to some blingy crazy whatever. (For those of you can’t remember grade school projects with snowflakes, you can Google instructions.) Have fun! There is a basket in the clubhouse to accept your beautiful contributions and Judy and Rose would like them in before November 6th. Here is a website with instructions for creating snowflakes:

It has been chilly and wet out there, so we invite all of you to come down and spend a shift or two at the shop. What a great chance to warm up, chat with old friends (or make some new ones!) and help contribute to the magic that is Bizarre Bazaar!

Your New S.W.A.T Team
"Savvy Women Attacking Treasures or Trash"

I have great news for all the lovely, hard working store volunteers! Your S.W.A.T. teams have been formed and will be available for calls for help with large donations starting November 1. There are 3 teams, each consisting of 2 workers. The list will be posted in the back by our sign up calendar, with names and numbers to call. When you receive a very large donation that is overwhelming, refer to the list and call a SWAT team. When you have reached a team who can respond, please record the date next to that team so that the next call can go to another team. The team will probably come in after hours so they can work without disturbing the daily shift to get the job done in a timely manner. This should help all of our store workers to keep our back room neat and clean no matter how large the donations. Your happy S.W.A.T. teams are here for you! Questions? Please feel free to call Lin Otey, 208-610-4529.

In appreciation for all you do,
Diane and Cherie
